The new ALTA JCB BLACK has a structure with a counterbalance embedded in the end, and the counter is adjusted on the tip side to account for the increased weight. Compared to the old SLATE, it cannot be balanced unless it is heavier by the amount of counterbalance on the tip side.
When I tried hitting with ALTA JCB SLATE (S), it felt more solid than the old SLATE. Things like not being succumbed to the impact and not causing the head to go wild.
